Why do I have bad breath?
Almost everyone has dealt with bad breath at some point. Bad breath is mainly caused from the bacteria that live and thrive in the mouth. Reasons for bad odor include poor dental hygiene, infections in the mouth, certain foods and drinks, medications, tobacco use, dry mouth, and medical illnesses.
Ways to improve your breath include: Brushing your teeth and tongue 2x per day, flossing 1x per day, visiting your dentist at least 2x per year, using a non alcoholic mouthrinse, quitting smoking or using any tobacco products, staying hydrated with plain water, chewing sugarless gum containing xylitol after meals, using saliva substitutes for dry mouth, eating a healthy diet containing whole vegetables and fruits, and avoiding processed foods.
