We are excited to now be able to do the majority of our crowns in one appointment using the CEREC system. CEREC stands for Chairside Economical Restorations of Esthetic Ceramics and has actually been around for over 30 years. Using this technology, our dentists no longer subject patients to impression putty, second visits or weeks in a temporary crown. Once the tooth is prepped and scanned, our milling machine can fabricate the porcelain crown in about 7-10 minutes. The crowns look great and are very strong. Patients are very excited to watch their crowns being milled in our new CEREC lab. The patient feedback for the crowns and the process itself has been excellent.
The process starts with a digital scan of the teeth, using the CEREC 3D Intra Oral Camera. By simply gliding the camera over the teeth, a full color, 3D model of the teeth is generated. This software allows a dentist to generate a restoration quickly and easily without compromising precision and beauty. After the design, the dentist fabricates the restoration using a ceramic block in the CEREC Milling Unit. It is then ready to be seated in the patients mouth for the perfect fit. Stop by Burns Family Dentistry and ask us about CEREC crowns. If your timing is right, you may be able to watch a crown being milled!
