Summer’s here – stay hydrated!

Summer is quickly approaching and for most that means “fun in the sun!” But did you know that age, some medications like diuretics and some heart related illnesses like cardiovascular disease can put you at greater risk for heat related illnesses? Heat stroke, heat exhaustion, and dehydration are all heat related illnesses that can occur in the summer months as the temperature rises. Some ways to lower your risks are simple like trying to stay out of the heat and to drink two to three quarts of fluid a day.

When choosing a drink to keep yourself hydrated, make sure to stay away from high sugar drinks like sports drinks and sodas that can cause cavities. Not only is water best for your body, it is best for your teeth as well!
